Our Style & Approach to
Wedding Photography
Our
photographic style encompasses two methods…posed or semi-posed pictures,
and photojournalistic “candids”.
Pictures taken prior to the ceremony, whether they are at the bride’s
home, someone else’s home, our studio, or some pre-determined other location;
tend to be mostly, though not exclusively, of the “posed” variety.
The photographs taken later at the ceremony and the reception are
virtually all unposed “as it
happens” candids. We try to
capture the event as it actually unfolds without interruption or staging of fake
sequences. Most church
ceremonies are easily covered without extensive use of flash photography once the
bride has walked down the aisle.
Equipment
we bring may involve 2 completely different camera formats.
We generally use the Mamiya RB-67 and a tripod for groups & formals,
while we oftentimes switch to Canon’s EOS-1N with its professional “L” series lenses
for photojournalism. We
bring with us at least one backup of each camera, wide angle &
telephoto lenses for both, and many accessories.
“Bounce flash” and available light provide most of the lighting you
see in the many photographs in our sample albums.
And having used all this professional equipment for over two decades now
enables me to focus on the people rather than the equipment, resulting in faster
posing and more natural expressions.
Albums
are the frosting on the cake…after all, why buy the very best in
photography, and then show them off in a department store album?
While we carry the full line of the most well-known and exquisite Art
Leather Futura albums, we also carry the little-known but extremely artistic
Venezia (directly imported from Italy) and the must-be-seen Waterhouse
hand-made albums. You will be
hard-pressed to find such a wide selection of incredibly beautiful albums, and
always included in your package price.
In addition, Parents Albums and Gift Folios are available at reduced
prices.
Travel
is something we do…in fact, we have photographed weddings in all 6 New England
states and several beyond. I
generally work with an assistant, which is much to your advantage, though we do
not charge additional for this service. If
your wedding is outside southwest NH, we would be glad to estimate for you what
travel expenses might be to your location.
I sincerely
hope that this will answer some of your many questions, and our staff and
I would love to meet with you and discuss your particular wedding.
