Upon graduation from Wentworth Institute
in Boston with a degree in Architectural Engineering in 1969, I joined
the U.S. Coast Guard on a 2 year program as a radioman. Once out in the workforce I was
employed as a structural design draftsman and then a restaurant designer, only to
later accept a
substantial cut in pay to
go and work for what had become my real passion...photography.
Over a five year period from 1970-75, I was employed by Westwood Studio's in Needham, Mass., doing
primarily high school senior portraits, then Fay Photo in Boston doing mostly commercial work, and finally a
Studio Manager's position with Harris Studio's in San Bernardino, California. While in the southwest,
I also supplemented my income doing extensive landscape & pictorial photography, primarily in Arizona.
In 1975, I moved back to my native New England and began
to set up Wright Studio here in Keene, NH. We started out in an out-of-the-way location in only 600 sq.
ft. of space at the old MacKenzie's "Old Town Shops" on upper Court
St., but within 1&1/2 years had moved to the Fairbanks Shopping Plaza with double the space.
Two years later, in 1980, we broke ground for a 5000+ sq. ft. state-of-the-art studio featuring 2 camera
rooms, a complete automated color lab, 2 sales areas, gallery, and what is probably one of the most
elaborate Outdoor Studios in the northeast.
And in 2001 we invested heavily in digital imaging equipment
and now offer these services as a regular item to our portrait clientele.
